The Cursed Road (Galatians 3:10-14)

Ben Simpson, January 24, 2010
Part of the The One and Only Gospel series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

We've all been there at that proverbial fork in the road. Should you go left or right? Would your decision be made easier if you knew in advance that one of the roads runs right off a cliff, ending in sure death? In this passage, the Apostle Paul puts the choose of two roads before us: the road of works and the road of faith in Christ. Pastor Ben asks which road will you choose and warns that one of them definitely runs off a cliff.

Sermon Notes:
BIG QUESTION - Which road are you going to take?
Point 1 - The road of works leads to a curse
Point 2 - Jesus became a curse for us
Point 3 - The road of faith in Christ leads to blessing

« Blessed with Abraham None The Law and the Promise »

Galatians 3:10-14

10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” 12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” 13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”— 14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
